  • Step 1Start a new request from the AHS app and tap "Video Chat Now" when prompted.

  • Step 2You will be connected with a live Expert.

  • Step 3Your Expert will assess or even help you fix the issue on the spot.

  • Step 4If your covered item can’t be fixed over video chat, you can make a service request for an in-person Pro (for the cost of your service fee).

AHS members with a ShieldGold® or ShieldPlatinum® plan can access video chat in the new AHS app as a free member benefit. Once in the app, simply start a new request and select Video Chat Now when prompted.

No, all you need is the camera on your phone! The camera will allow the Expert to see what you’re seeing and help assess the issue. You’ll just want to make sure the area is clear of any debris so you can access it easily with your camera. If you have a toolbox or any tools handy, it’s a plus to have them within reach. If not, that’s okay too! Your Expert can help recommend any tools needed to make the repair.

If your covered item cannot be fixed using video chat, you can easily make a service request for in-person help (for the cost of your service fee) from a Pro in the app after the video chat. Your Expert will also share their notes with your assigned repair Pro, which may help speed up the repair process in many cases. Video chat feature available to AHS members with select plans. When you use video chat in the AHS app, you will be connected with an Expert who can help you with plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliance and general repair issues in real time using your phone.  If a covered item has experienced a covered breakdown that cannot be fixed over video chat, you can place a service request for in-person help for the cost of your service fee.  We will assign a Pro who will come to your home to diagnose any covered issues, and we’ll repair them subject to the limitations and exclusions of your plan agreement.   See the plan agreement for coverage details, including service fees, limitations and exclusions. No, you cannot video chat with an Expert about an item or issue that isn't covered. Video can be used to help you assess and potentially repair a covered issue in real time. However, if the issue can't be repaired via video chat, you can place a service request for in-person help for the cost of your service fee.
