An American Home Shield® home warranty ensures that when a covered problem strikes, you can simply place a service request or call us to take care of it.

American Home Shield will pay up to $4,000 per covered appliance ($7,000 with ShieldComplete℠ plan) for access, diagnosis, and repair/replacement per the limitations and exclusions in your plan agreement.

Yes, our ShieldPlus and ShieldComplete plans cover the parts and components of built-in microwaves.

We cover all components and parts of built-in microwaves. The ShieldPlus plan covers up to $4,000 for each covered appliance. The ShieldComplete plan covers up to $7,000 for each covered appliance. See the page above and the plan agreement for more detailed coverage information. 

American Home Shield covers built-in microwaves, which are designed to be mounted on a wall or installed in cabinetry rather than placed on a counter or another surface. We do not cover countertop microwaves.

If we can’t repair your covered built-in microwave, we’ll replace it subject to the limitations and exclusions in your plan agreement and remove the defective item.

You can place your first service request once your coverage begins on the day of closing. Service requests can easily be placed 24/7 online via MyAccount or by calling 1-888-691-2854 during standard business hours to request service.

It's an annual home warranty plan that helps with the cost and hassle when parts of your home systems and appliances break down. Our real estate-specific plans are offered to both home buyers and sellers and coverage begins immediately. You will also get protection for things other home warranties might not cover, like old home systems and appliances, insufficient maintenance, improper installations or repairs, mismatched HVAC systems in certain circumstances, and more.
