ShieldEssential and ShieldPlus are American Home Shield real estate home warranty plans. Both plans cover the major systems that keep homes running like heating, air conditioning, ductwork, electrical, and plumbing. The biggest difference is that ShieldPlus adds more protection:

  • Appliance coverage: ShieldPlus covers everyday appliances like your refrigerator, dishwasher, oven, washer, dryer, and more. ShieldEssential does not include appliance coverage.
  • Unlimited AC refrigerant: ShieldPlus includes unlimited AC refrigerant, which can make a big difference on AC repairs. ShieldEssential covers refrigerant at up to $10 per pound.
  • Both plans cover up to $15,000 for systems: Systems like your heating, air conditioning, ductwork, and more.
  • Help with code upgrades and permits: Both plans include up to $250 toward required permits and up to $250 toward code violation corrections per term.

Yes. We don’t care how old your home systems and appliances are - our home warranty protection will cover them.

Your coverage starts the day of closing, however, if payment for the home warranty funds has not been received from the home closing process, the number of service requests may be limited.
