As the seasons change, it's important to ensure your heating and cooling systems are working properly. We recommend getting a pre-season tune-up twice a year — once in the spring to prepare your AC for summer, and again in fall to make sure your heating system is ready for winter. Keeping your HVAC in top condition can help prevent breakdowns and possibly prolong its life.
Tune-ups are available in the spring and fall for just $100 per unit with our ShieldEssential and ShieldPlus plans. One free tune-up per contract term is included in the ShieldComplete plan. HVAC Tune-Ups details
Included:
Check the heat exchanger (heating check in fall)
Inspect disconnects (AC in spring, heating in fall)
Check thermostat
Check filters
Check contactor and condensate line
Test capacitors and operations
Clean/tighten electrical connections
Test safety and limit switches
Check refrigerant levels and systems pressures (AC check in spring)
Clean the burners (heating check in fall)
Inspect the pilot system (heating check in fall)
With a heat pump system - test temperature split, rinse condenser coils, check evaporator coil & perform amp draw on condenser motor and compressor
Not Included:
Free filters (However if you provide us with a new one, the Pro will install it for you)
Cleaning of condensate line stoppages (requires new service request)
Recharging refrigerant (requires new service request)
Evaporator/indoor coil cleaning, including acid cleaning beyond hosing with water
Cleaning or unclogging services to correct problems related to lack of manufacturer recommended maintenance
Geothermal systems, mini-split systems, boilers, swamp coolers, window and wall units, and oil furnaces

Our HVAC tune-ups are discounted at $100 per unit with the ShieldEssential and ShieldPlus plans. If you have our ShieldComplete plan, you get one free tune-up per contract term and unlimited AC refrigerant.
No, you will simply pay $100 per unit (plus sales tax where applicable). Should a covered issue be found that requires repair, you will be charged your service fee for that separate service request.
Refrigerant should be checked during your spring HVAC tune-up every year and refilled when necessary.
Your refrigerant levels will be checked during the spring AC tune-up. If your AC system needs a refrigerant refill to keep the air in your home cool, our ShieldEssential and ShieldPlus plans.provide refrigerant at the discounted rate of $10/pound. The ShieldComplete plan offers unlimited refrigerant at no cost.If a refrigerant refill is required, you will be charged your service fee for that separate service request.
You can place your first service request once your coverage begins on the day of closing. Service requests can easily be placed 24/7 online via MyAccount or by calling 1-888-691-2854 during standard business hours to request service.
