Built up lint inhibits the release of moist air, causing longer drying cycles and longer drying cycles can strain your dryer over time and increase energy bills. But most importantly, lint buildup is highly flammable, so it’s a safety risk and fire hazard that you can avoid by having your dryer vent cleaned.

You should clean your dryer vent at least once a year, but the frequency depends on your household size and how often you use your dryer. For example, if you have a large family or multiple pets, you may want to clean your dryer vent every 6-9 months. If you frequently buy new clothes, you may also need to clean your dryer vents several times a year.
