With the ShieldPlatinum home warranty plan, AHS covers up to 29 covered items for systems and appliances. With applaince coverage for major kitchen and laundry appliances that keep your home running - refrigerator, oven, range/cooktop, built-in microwave, dishwasher, garbage disposal, instant hot/cold water dispenser, and your clothes washer and dryer, you have your basics covered. And your coverage includes $4,000 per covered appliance per agreement term. We also cover multiples of each item – like that extra fridge or double oven, and we don’t care how old your appliances are – they’re covered.

Yes, if AHS cannot repair your covered item, they’ll replace it no matter its age. AHS will repair or replace the covered appliance subject to the limitations and exclusions in your plan agreement. We’ll even haul away your old defective unit. AHS will attempt to repair your covered issue first, prior to any replacement.

With the ShieldPlatinum home warranty plan, there is a $50,000 total limit per agreement term and we never limit the number of service requests you can make. Heating and AC systems will have a maximum coverage limit of $5,000 per covered system and $4,000 per covered appliance per agreement term. It also includes a $1,000 roof leak repair coverage limit.

In the event that your item is not covered, we'll keep you updated so you have the ability to decide whether you want us to complete the repair out-of-pocket or not. One benefit is that you won’t have to find the right Pro for the job because we’ll handle that for you. An AHS customer service representative can help answer any questions you might have related to your coverage.

As an additional member benefit available to all AHS plans, you have the option to video call* one of our vetted, repair Technicians for troubleshooting home hassles over the phone in the AHS app, at no extra cost. Our Technicians have an average of over 20 years of experience in the trades, and will try and help you diagnosis or even fix the issue over video call. If the issue cannot be fixed, they will leave notes for the repair Pro if you decide to place a service request for in-person repair help.

ShieldGold and ShieldPlatinum cover the same core home systems and appliances. That includes your heating and air conditioning systems, ductwork, electrical and plumbing, and everyday appliances like your refrigerator, washer, dryer, dishwasher, and oven. The biggest difference between the two plans is that ShieldPlatinum adds more protection and higher limits:

• Higher appliance coverage limits: ShieldPlatinum covers up to $4,000 per appliance compared to ShieldGold's $2,000 limit.
• Exterior lines coverage: ShieldPlatinum includes exterior lines coverage, such as leaks or breaks in the exterior water, sewer and gas lines and outdoor pipes running to your home. ShieldGold does not include this coverage, but it can be added as an optional add-on to the plan. The coverage limit is $2,000/line.
• Roof leak repair: ShieldPlatinum includes up to $1,000 for repairing non-structural roof leaks. ShieldGold does not include roof leak repair coverage, but you can add it on as additional coverage.
• One free, yearly HVAC Tune-up: ShieldPlatinum includes one free HVAC Tune-up per year. While ShieldGold provides access to HVAC Tune-ups, these will come at an additional cost. 
• Help with code upgrades and permits: When a covered repair or replacement requires permits, inspections, code-violation corrections, or certain duct, electrical, or plumbing modifications, ShieldPlatinum provides up to $250 toward those costs. With ShieldGold, these costs are your responsibility.

The standard home warranty plan agreement contains a 30-day coverage waiting period. This means your coverage begins, and you can place your first service request, 30 days after your home warranty plan agreement begins.

Prior to the 30-day mark, you can set up your online profile on the AHS app so you’ll be ready to place service requests, access your plan agreement, and get member discounts on home maintenance services.
