Rekey

Rekey Service

Whether you’ve just settled into a new home or your house key has disappeared into that mysterious place where socks go, rekeying your locks is a smart move. With our Rekey Service, all it takes is placing a service request in MyAccount, the AHS App or by phone. A locksmith will rekey up to six keyholes and provide four matching keys for a fee, so you can get back to feeling right at home.

Rekey services are offered by Frontdoor Pro and performed by a Frontdoor Pro independent contractor. For Frontdoor Pro license numbers, please visit Frontdoor Pro licensing information. Please note that the locksmith must have one current key. If the member is missing all keys, an additional fee may apply.

Rekey Service details

Included:
Includes rekeying up to six keyholes; four identical keys
Previously installed and properly functioning non-electric doorknobs and/or deadbolts
Hinged doors accessing the structural walls of your covered residential property
Not Included:
Padlocks
Broken or damaged locks
Replacement of deadbolts, knobs, or associated hardware
Garage door openers
Skeleton locks and keys (windows, file cabinets, safes, desks, mailbox locks)

Rekey Service FAQs

Yes, if you have an American Home Shield® home warranty plan. We uniquely offer Rekey Services to our members. 

We will send a qualified Pro to rekey up to six keyholes with four identical keys for a discounted fee per service.

Rekey Services are available through AHS at a pre-established discounted rate. A separate fee applies for each unit on a covered multi-unit property.

You can place your first service request 30 days after you sign up for your plan. Service requests can easily be placed 24/7 online via MyAccount or by calling 1-888-691-2854 during standard business hours to request service.

The ShieldSilver plan covers the parts and components of your must-have systems like your heating and cooling, plumbing, and electrical systems. ShieldGold covers all of the above plus your laundry and kitchen appliances.
