Ductwork Warranty Coverage

You may not notice them, but ducts do a big job distributing heat and air throughout your house. All of our American Home Shield® home warranty plans include ductwork coverage for this important but often overlooked home system.

The covered item limit is $5,000. AHS will only provide coverage for access to a Covered Item through one layer of unobstructed drywall, and return such access opening to a Rough Finish. If the Covered Item can only be accessed through a concrete (including cinderblock) wall, floor, or ceiling, we will provide coverage for access to the Covered Item and return such access opening to a Rough Finish, subject to any Special Limits noted in this Plan Agreement. We will not cover the costs associated with accessing items that are not reasonably accessible or are inaccessible, such as those that cannot be accessed safely, due to an obstruction, or require non-standard specialized equipment to access the Covered Item. We will not provide service to any Covered Item where hazardous materials, such as animal waste, are present until such hazardous materials are removed or otherwise remediated.

Leaks or breaks in ductwork connected to heating and/or air conditioning systems, including leaks or breaks in:
Leaks or breaks in vapor barriers, plenums, dampers, damper-only controls and registers and grills
Not Covered:

Ductwork FAQs

Yes, all 3 of our home warranty plan options cover leaks or breaks in ductwork during your 1-year agreement term. Please see the plan agreement for more detailed coverage information, including limitations and exclusions.

All 3 of our home warranty plans include ductwork coverage for leaks or breaks in plenums, dampers, damper-only control, and leaks or breaks in the ductwork from air conditioning or heating systems, subject to your $5,000 coverage limit per system and plan limitations and exclusions. Please see the coverage details on the page above or the plan agreement for more information.

Our standard home warranty contract term is 1 year and renews for additional 1-year terms unless canceled. You can place your first service request 30 days after you sign up for your plan. You will not be charged until your coverage begins at the 30-day mark.

If we can’t fix your ductwork, we’ll replace it subject to your plan’s limitations and exclusions. We’ll also cover the cost to remove the defective ductwork. 

Once your coverage begins (30 days after you sign up for your new home warranty plan) you can request service 24/7 online via MyAccount or call 1-888-691-2854 during standard business hours to request service.
