Heating Systems

When temperatures cool off, you rely on your heating system to warm up. HVAC coverage that includes heating warranty coverage helps keep your home comfortable without the unexpected repair costs. When you discover a covered issue, simply contact American Home Shield® and we’ll send an independent, qualified Pro to your home to help diagnose and complete the repair.

The covered item limit for AC and heating systems (combined) is $15,000. However, the covered item limit for the following types of heating systems is $2,000: glycol, hot water, or steam circulating heating system, any water heater which supplies heated water to such system(s), geothermal and/or water source heat pumps. American Home Shield will cover up to $1,000 should the contractor need to cut through concrete to access any HVAC system components.

All parts and components of permanently installed heating systems up to a 5 ton capacity of the following types:
Geothermal units
Wall mounted heaters
Floor furnaces
Package units
Heat pumps

Hot water or steam circulating heat
Electric baseboard
Electric baseboard heat
Not Covered:
Radiant cable heat
Window or portable heating units
Fireplaces, grain, pellet, coal or wood heating units
All parts and components of geothermal systems located outside or under the covered home’s main foundation
Fuel storage tanks
Humidifiers and dehumidifiers
Ultraviolet lights or ultraviolet line insulation
Home purification systems
The covered item limit is $15,000 for all plans.

Yes, all three of our home warranty plans cover parts and components of heating systems under our HVAC warranty coverage. The covered item limit for AC and heating systems (combined) is $15,000 during your 1-year plan agreement term.

All three of our home warranty plans include HVAC warranty coverage with a combined coverage limit for AC and heating systems of $15,000 per 1-year plan agreement term. This coverage includes ducted central and electric split and package units; geothermal; evaporative (swamp) coolers; wall ACs; heat pumps; mini-splits; forced air (gas, electric, and oil); wall-mounted heaters; floor furnaces; package units; hot water or steam circulating heat; electric baseboard heat. It does not include coverage for window units, or outside or underground components for geothermal and/or water source heat pumps.

Yes. We cover parts and components of older systems and appliances no matter their age, as well as unknown, preexisting breakdowns. You can also purchase an American Home Shield home warranty without an inspection or maintenance records. 

If we can’t repair your covered heating system, we’ll replace it subject to your plan's $15,000 combined coverage limit for heating and cooling systems per 1-year plan agreement term.

With an American Home Shield home warranty, you’ll receive HVAC warranty coverage, including heating systems, for the length of your 1-year plan agreement term which is renewable.
